Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will visit Budapest at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar to attend events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.
The main commemorative event will be held in a central square in the Hungarian capital on October 23, where Magyar will address attendees.
“The freedom that Central Europe finally regained in 1989 did not begin in 1989. Part of its history was written 33 years earlier, on the streets of Budapest. It is my honour to invite you to Budapest to jointly commemorate the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Your presence at the event, where we will pay tribute to those whose courage continues to inspire our shared European future and whose legacy remains relevant to the challenges of our time, would be a great honour for us”, Magyar wrote in an official invitation letter addressed to the Georgian Prime Minister.
